Mlle. She Travels' Bar Review: Bisou

In planning for my most recent jaunt to Paris, which was a girl's shopping trip with my good friend from London, I did a little research on the best cocktail bars in Paris. Afterall, who doesn't love a good cocktail? The most recent list of best Paris bars was published Conde Nast Traveler in June 2019, so I made the decision to peruse it. First on this list was Bisou. I did further research, visiting the Bisou's website and reading futher reviews on Le Fooding and Culture Trip. We made the decision to head down there upon our arrival in Paris after checking into our hotel.

Bisou is in the 3rd Arrondissement, which was just a couple of blocks from our hotel. We arrived just before 11 PM on Halloween, which while celebrated in Paris, is not nearly as big of a celebration as it is in the United States. The inside of the bar is very small, with a bench lining one wall and tables set along it with bar stools lining the bar. There is also seating outside.

When we arrived, there was an empty table right in the middle of the long bench so we grabbed it. After sitting down, the server came by our table to ask if we would like sparkling or still water (still, please) and explained what precisely bespoke cocktail meant. There is no cocktail menu; rather, we were to explain what liquor we wanted (Bourbon, Gin, etc..), and what flavor profile we wanted to experience (floral, fruity, spicy, etc…). With that information, the bartenders created an original cocktail based on the specifications given.

My friend and I each had two cocktails. 4 weeks after the fact, I cannot remember exactly what liquors we ordered, or what flavors we asked for, but they were beautiful and tasted amazing thanks to the imaginative and talented mixologists at Bisou.

To top it all off, Bisou has the absolute best wallpaper in its bathroom. On my next trip to Paris, I will definitely make a return stop to Bisou.
